Safety at Gardanne benefits local community

Doosan is proud to report a great new initiative from the team working on the Gardanne biomass conversion project in Provence, France, where commitment to the highest standards of health and safety is bringing benefit to the local community.

Every month, the Gardanne project team identifies a series of KPIs (key performance indicators) against which health and safety performance is monitored. If these KPIs are met, a contribution is made by all companies participating in the project to a local charity chosen collaboratively by the site workforce.

This provides tangible motivation for everyone working at Gardanne to adopt a more safety-focused culture, while at the same time helping the local community. The initiative also provides a great vehicle for promoting teamwork at the Gardanne site, where the project team and workforce is drawn from various different companies – namely plant owner E.ON, main contractor Doosan ((including Doosan Babcock, Doosan Škoda Power and Doosan Lentjes) and sub-contractors ADF, Emerson and Set Linings.

Following a successful performance against July’s KPIs, the Gardanne workforce presented its first donation of 650 euros on 28 August to local charity Restos du Coeur (Aide Alimentaire), which provides food for the poor and homeless in the region.

Well done to all involved in this excellent initiative!
