Scott Anderson, Regional Manager of Doosan Babcock, visited the top-performing college on Wednesday 17 September to sign a Service Level Agreement, pledging support for students studying the wide range of Engineering courses delivered at the college through its specialist Powerskills Engineering Department, for the next three years.
The partnership provides a unique opportunity for the college and the industry to combine resources and provide a world-class engineering experience.
Mr Anderson said at the signing: “The promotion of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) education is central to Doosan Babcock’s vision for a sustainable future for our industry, which is why the opportunity to work with partners such as Selby College in the delivery of outstanding vocational training for young people is so important to us.
“The college has a considerable reputation locally and regionally for providing a first-class learning experience for students, some of whom are already Doosan Apprentices.
“With high-level technical skills, raised aspirations and a commitment to remaining at the forefront of ever faster technical change through continual education, training and development, students are job-ready for the industry as soon as they leave the college and go into the world of work.”

The college’s continuing partnership with renowned sector specialist Doosan Babcock provides a guaranteed supply of skilled engineers which is essential if UK Engineering is to compete on a world stage.”
