Doosan Babcock proves its sustainability credentials

UK-based energy engineering specialist Doosan Babcock has achieved accreditation as a Rated Supplier on the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) Sustainability Index. The CIPS Sustainability Index (CSI) provides an independent assessment of the social, economic and environmental impacts of Doosan Babcock’s operations – a matter high on the agenda for its customers in the global power generation, oil and gas, petrochemical and pharmaceutical industries.

Doosan Babcock’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) mission is to be recognised as an outstanding employer and exemplary corporate citizen, and the results of its CIPS audit certainly pay testament to its progress. The company scored well above the average Index rating, with a 97% economic score, a 94% environmental score and an 89% social score, compared to an average 61%, 70% and 70% respectively for all CIPS listed suppliers.

“Ensuring that we are part of a sustainable and ethical supply chain is extremely important to the future success and reputation of our business and, subsequently, that of our customers and our industry,” said Simon Hopkins, CSR Director for Doosan Babcock.

“By being audited and rated against independent criteria, we have demonstrated the validity and integrity of our sustainable business credentials, and can identify areas for improvement. Despite our encouraging scores, we firmly believe that CSR is a journey and our aim is to continuously better our performance as we move forward.”
