Doosan Babcock Energy Polska opens new facility in Rybnik

Doosan Babcock Energy Polska recently opened its new service, logistics and technology centre in Rybnik, Poland with an investment of close to 50 million Polish zlotys. Built over a 28,000 square metre site in the Katowice Special Economic Zone (KSSE), the modern industrial facility comprises offices and technical premises as well as repair and service workshops. The total area of the new complex is 8531 m2 with the potential for further expansion.

“We are aware of the challenges that our country will face, associated with the uncertainty of legal regulations on emissions standards and climate preservation, as well as the nuclear programme in Poland. We have therefore taken measures to provide ourselves with an additional space of 2500 m2 for further expansion of the infrastructure. This will ensure that we are equipped to help our customers meet these future challenges,” said Ryszard Siwon-Olszewski, CEO - Doosan Babcock Energy Polska.

Guests at the opening ceremony included ambassadors from the Republic of Korea and the United Kingdom.

“Doosan Babcock Energy Polska is the great example of the cooperation between Korea, United Kingdom and Poland combining entrepreneurial spirit and Doosan’s technology, British knowledge and experience, as well as Polish operational and management capabilities. With the opening of the new facility, Doosan Babcock Energy Polska will not only contribute to the growth of the energy supply, but also towards a more harmonious power sector policy” – said Ji-in Hong, Republic of Korea Ambassador.

“Great Britain has vast experience, capabilities and knowledge, while offering the highest standards in power generation without fracturing the environmental balance of the country. Innovative companies, like Doosan Babcock, offers its experience and knowledge for dynamically developing broadly defined power sector in Europe, and in the near future, they will also play significant role in the process of Polish power sector modernization” – added Robin Barnett, British Ambassador in Poland.

The facility took around a year to build.
