Doosan Babcock recognised in the RoSPA Awards 2016

Doosan Babcock has been successful in the 60th year of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Occupational Health and Safety Awards 2016, achieving the Highly Commended accolade in the Engineering Services Sector.

The company will be presented with the award during a ceremony at the Hilton Glasgow hotel, on 15 September 2016, when the event also marks its diamond anniversary, celebrating 60 years of presenting highly-regarded and sought after accolades to businesses and organisations which have shown commitment to accident and ill-health prevention.

Through the scheme, which is open to businesses and organisations of all types and sizes from across the UK and overseas, judges consider entrants’ overarching occupational health and safety management systems, including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement.

The competitive sector awards recognise organisations that have demonstrated the best health and safety management performance within specific industry sectors, including engineering services, construction, healthcare, transport and logistics, manufacturing and education.

Julia Small, RoSPA’s head of awards and events, said: “To win an award at such a highly-regarded event as the RoSPA Awards is a great achievement for our winners. It recognises their commitment to maintaining an excellent health and safety record and raises the bar for other organisations to aspire to. We offer them our congratulations.”

Jim Moyles, Health, Safety and Environmental Manager at Doosan Babcock, commented: “This is a great achievement for Doosan Babcock. To be recognised at such a level within our peer group is high praise indeed. However, for us, the highest reward of all is maintaining a safety culture that means our staff go home safe to their families at the end of the day.”
