At a very early stage in the design process the design risk assessment is initiated. The risk assessment is developed from the information contained within the Specification and the Pre Tender/Construction Phase Health and Safety Plan, and is issued with the tender documentation.
On award of contract, the design risk assessment is reviewed, forming the initial topic of the first design review. This theme continues throughout the design process ensuring the risk assessment is reviewed in a series of design reviews held during the life of the project.
Following Regulation 13 our designers are trained to:-
- Avoid risks in design
- Deal with causes of risks at source
- Minimise and control of risks where the risk cannot be removed
- Consider not only the construction implications but think about the Operational Maintenance and Demolition works
- Co-operate with the Planning Supervisor
