Our department has its own specialised manufacturing and machining capabilities, experienced in the production of high-integrity, unusual or prototype components.
Specialised Manufacturing
We provide a complete manufacturing solution, from conceptual design through to manufacture and proof testing. Our network of approved local suppliers provide us with certified materials which can be verified in our own laboratories where required. Welding operations are carried out to British Standards or ASME-qualified procedures by our own experienced welders. If a weld procedure requires to be developed specifically for a manufacturing project, our expertise and experience in this area allow us to achieve this quickly, through the support of our in-house metallurgy department and welding school.
As well as having manufactured pressure parts, rotating equipment for nuclear applications and other high integrity components, we also manufacture the loading fixtures and test rigs for our Full-Scale Component Testing operations.
Machine Shop
We have a fully equipped machine shop that not only supports the manufacturing and testing activities of the department, but also provides a flexible sub-contract machining service.
We have recently invested in the latest Doosan CNC lathe and milling technology, together with Autodesk Inventor and Delcam FeatureCAM software. The combination of these tools allows us to produce complex parts very quickly.
