    Automated Pre-Service / In-Service Inspection

    Our automated Pre-Service/In-Service Inspection (PSI/ISI) solutions span design, development, integration, qualification and implementation of fully automated systems for precision inspection of high integrity components.

    We have more than 30 years’ experience in the development of advanced automated inspection systems. You benefit from safe and timely inspections combining state-of-the-art equipment, innovative inspection techniques and highly qualified and experienced personnel.

    Our experience covers a wide range of nuclear and non-nuclear applications requiring the use of complex modeling tools such as CIVA and Finite Element Analysis (FEA). The production of Technical Justifications is frequently used in conjunction with performance demonstrations for the qualification of specialist inspections to satisfy stringent European Network for Inspection Qualification (ENIQ) criteria.

    We have a solid track record of providing specialist Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) techniques and services for optimised inspection across nuclear, thermal and petrochemical plant. Our tailored and robustly qualified Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) inspections combine reliability with efficient application, ensuring minimum downtime and a quick return to service.

    We deploy the latest inspection technology and scanning equipment, adding value by transforming our proprietary equipment into a qualified inspection system for your plant. Our specialist NDE services include:

    • Critical pipework welds
    • Boiler tube butt weld inspection
    • Ligament cracking
    • Nozzle weld geometrics
    • Weld neck flanges
    • Boiler tube oxide layer thickness measurement
    • Corrosion under supports
    • Pressure parts NDE
    • Challenging materials, including, High Density Polyethylene (HDPE), dissimilar metal welds and austenitic steel
    • Computer-based modelling

    We use advanced NDT technologies, including Phased Array, CHIME, and Time of Flight Diffraction (TOFD). Phased array can often now be used effectively in lieu of radiography for inspection of welds in piping. Benefits over radiography include no need safety exclusion zones reducing inspection windows, personal radiological exposure, and outage time through enabling parallel working.

    Our inspection solutions also extend to advanced Remote Visual Inspection (RVI) management across the nuclear, thermal and petrochemical, pharmaceutical and defence sectors.

    Using the latest digital image inspection equipment, from insertion tubes and base units to submersible pan-tilt-zoom cameras and remotely operated vehicles, we are able to deliver highly effective inspection of remote or inaccessible plant areas and equipment.

    Our RVI expertise for the nuclear sector includes the inspection of in-reactor, boiler, turbine and generator systems. Across sectors and industries RVI has a wide range of applications, including:

    In support of our inspection capability we can also undertake remote recovery of foreign objects and material, often negating the need to dismantle plant items. We have the capability to develop custom tooling or modify existing tooling to suit the task at hand.

    Our Remote Retrieval Service provides value to our clients by ensuring plant items are free of debris prior to return-to-service with minimum disruption to the plant.
